"I am a farm kid who grew up by Oskaloosa, went to Oskaloosa Christian Grade School and Oskaloosa High School. I graduated from Dordt University with a secondary education major in mathematics and chemistry, and later a masters degree in math from the University of South Dakota.
My teaching career has spanned South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. For 40 years, I have taught high school math and science courses and coached boys varsity basketball, the last 27 years at Pella Christian High School. I retired from full-time teaching in 2020 and have done some substitute teaching since.
I am married to Betty and we live in Altoona. I have two daughters and three grandchildren. I enjoy playing golf and pickleball and watching almost any sporting event.
I grew up in a Christian home and church and “owned” my own faith in Jesus as my Lord and Savior as a teenager. I try to serve Him in all things, including substitute teaching! I look forward to helping students learn lots of math, but also learning to appreciate math as a language of Creation and as a tool to be used for good."
